Art Bio
I have always loved art, but was generally plagued with self-doubt as to my abilities. I struggled to find something more practical to do, but always came back to art. I taught art for several years in various settings. I also have given birth to four kids over the past eight years, so my own personal art has taken a decided back burner. Since the birth of my last child, my drive to create has become undeniable. I have somehow found the time to paint like crazy, and it is something that helps me retain some level of sanity!
I have been exploring different themes and letting them lead me where they will. I have always been a doodler, and circles and swirls come naturally to me. Since I have a background in fiber arts , the patchwork motif is something I enjoy, being able to incorporate several patterns into one unified whole. I generally find myself working in deep muted earth tones.
Painting for me these last few months has been all about the experience and discipline. Making myself paint, experimenting with the materials and seeing something through to the end are what is important to me. I find a technique I enjoy and I explore it repeatedly tweaking it a bit each time.
The biggest thrill for me is to see people positively respond to my work. I never thought in a million years that I would be showing and selling work the way I have been. That is a happy side effect, I know I would be creating regardless, it is just something I HAVE to do!
